1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, Throughout history brave Americans have shed
3 their blood during wars and conflicts to preserve, protect,
4 and defend the foundation of the principles of democracy and
5 freedom; and
6 WHEREAS, Many of those that have served have been the
7 brave men and women of Schaumburg, Illinois; and
8 WHEREAS, The brave men and women of Schaumburg, Illinois,
9 have risen to the cause of defending democracy whenever
10 needed; and
11 WHEREAS, It is estimated that approximately 5,000 to
12 6,000 veterans reside in Schaumburg, Illinois; and
13 WHEREAS, The Village of Schaumburg is planning to add an
14 honorary road sign along Schaumburg Road on May 1, 2001,
15 otherwise known as Loyalty Day, to serve as the town's first
16 permanent veterans memorial; and
17 WHEREAS, The people of Schaumburg, Illinois wish to thank
18 those numerous veterans for their sacrifices and service;
19 therefore, be it
20 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
21 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
22 Schaumburg Road, traversing through the heart of Schaumburg,
23 Illinois will be designated as Veterans Memorial Parkway by
24 the Village in honor of the veterans from Schaumburg at a
25 ceremony on Loyalty Day, May 1, 2001; and be it further
26 RESOLVED, That we join with the citizens of Schaumburg,
27 Illinois, in paying this tribute to those who have served in
28 the armed forces in the defense of liberty; and
29 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
30 delivered to the Village of Schaumburg, Illinois.
