92_HR0310 LRB9208899RHrhA 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The institution of marriage is one of the 3 cornerstones upon which our society is built, and a marriage 4 that has achieved a notable longevity is truly a model for 5 the people of the State of Illinois; and 6 WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that Mr. and Mrs. 7 Norman Ellingsen of Schaumburg, Illinois, will celebrate the 8 fiftieth anniversary of their marriage; and 9 WHEREAS, Norman Ellingsen and Shirley Anderson were 10 united in holy matrimony on June 9, 1951 at Redeemer Lutheran 11 Church in Chicago, Illinois; and 12 WHEREAS, They are the loving parents of Joan Danz, 13 Paulette Ferris, Carol "Candy" Westerman, and Norman "Skip" 14 Ellingsen, Jr.; and the grandparents of seven wonderful 15 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and 16 WHEREAS, Norman Ellingsen was a manager for many years of 17 Lloyd's Automobile Service Stations on Cicero and Central 18 Avenues; and he is retired from Gulf Oil; Shirley Ellingsen 19 is a homemaker; and 20 WHEREAS, Norman Ellingsen has been a member of Mason and 21 Shriner for the past fifty years, where he has been an active 22 blood donor in the Mason and Shriner Blood Drive; Shirley 23 Ellingsen is an active choir member at her church and an 24 active member of the Elks Ladies Auxiliary #2048; and 25 WHEREAS, The respect for marriage reaches one of its 26 highest plateaus when a couple such as Norman and Shirley 27 Ellingsen celebrate their golden wedding anniversary; and 28 WHEREAS, Norman and Shirley Ellingsen stand as examples 29 of the best of our society, and their love and devotion to 30 each other and to their family and friends serve as a -2- LRB9208899RHrhA 1 reminder to all that hard work, dedication, and love can make 2 a difference in today's world; therefore, be it 3 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 4 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 5 we congratulate Norman and Shirley Ellingsen on the occasion 6 of their fiftieth wedding anniversary; that we commend them 7 for achieving a long and happy marriage, blessed with 8 children and grandchildren and rich in friendships; and that 9 we wish them happiness and good health in the future; and be 10 it further 11 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 12 presented to them as an expression of our respect and esteem.
