92_HR0312 LRB9208849RHrhA 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 3 Representatives are pleased to recognize milestone events in 4 the lives of the citizens of the State of Illinois; and 5 WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that Jason Copeland 6 Blonstein is graduating from the United States Military 7 Academy at West Point, New York, on June 2, 2001; and 8 WHEREAS, Jason Copeland Blonstein was selected in the 9 fifth grade to go into a special opportunities program where 10 he took advanced coursework; he continued this route of study 11 through his high school years; in addition he was a member of 12 the gymnastic team in high school; and 13 WHEREAS, In eighth grade, Jason Copeland Blonstein was 14 selected by the People to People program to go to Europe as a 15 student ambassador; he traveled to Washington, D.C., the 16 Pentagon in Geneva, Switzerland, and through France and 17 England; and 18 WHEREAS, After high school, Jason Copeland Blonstein 19 applied to the United States Military Academy, where he is 20 graduating in the top ten percent of his class this year; 21 during his time at the United States Military Academy he 22 served as a qualified Air Assault technician, as a Beast 2 23 squad leader in his junior year, as Company First Sergeant 24 during the second semester of his junior year, and as 25 Regimental Adjutant in the first semester of his senior year; 26 in addition he earned a Recondo badge and a star-wreath, the 27 highest cadet award for maintaining outstanding academic, 28 military, and physical strength; and 29 WHEREAS, In addition to his studies, Jason Copeland 30 Blonstein is a member of the Jewish Chapel Choir, the ACIC of 31 the Jewish Chapel Choir, the CIC of the Jewish Choir, member -2- LRB9208849RHrhA 1 of the Arabic Club, and participant in the Student Council in 2 United States Affairs; in addition he is a sponsor of the 3 Special Olympics, member of the Jewish community council at 4 West Point, and was Bar Mitzvah'd in May 2000; and 5 WHEREAS, After graduation, Jason Copeland Blonstein will 6 receive advanced military training and then will be stationed 7 in Germany for three years to become a ranger as a sign of 8 respect and love for his country; therefore, be it 9 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 10 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 11 we congratulate Jason Copeland Blonstein on his June 2, 2001 12 graduation from the United States Military Academy at West 13 Point, New York, and we wish him well in all of his future 14 endeavors; and be it further 15 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 16 presented to Jason Copeland Blonstein as an expression of our 17 esteem.
