 1                          HOUSE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS,  The  members   of   the   Illinois   House   of
 3    Representatives   are   pleased   to   recognize  significant
 4    milestones in the lives of citizens of the State of Illinois;
 5    and

 6        WHEREAS, Warren  Jackson  of  Villa  Ridge  recently  was
 7    elected president of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society (PTK), the
 8    international honor society for community colleges; and

 9        WHEREAS,  Warren  Jackson,  19,  is  president of Shawnee
10    Community College's Alpha  Lambda  Epsilon  chapter  of  PTK,
11    Illinois  regional  president  and Illinois regional southern
12    vice president of the society, and the youngest  member  ever
13    elected  to  the  Meridian Community School District board of
14    education; and

15        WHEREAS, Warren Jackson joined PTK in February  of  2000,
16    became  an  active member, and was influenced in his decision
17    to run for president of the international society  by  friend
18    and  fellow  Shawnee  PTK  member  Charles  Bradshaw, who was
19    elected an international vice president in 2000; and

20        WHEREAS,  Candidates  for   international   office   were
21    required  to  participate  in  a broad range of activities at
22    various PTK conventions, such as non-political speeches; and

23        WHEREAS, Warren Jackson was one of  five  candidates  for
24    international  president  in  a  run-off election at a Dallas
25    convention, he and  one  other  candidate  received  the  top
26    votes,  and  Warren  Jackson  won  the  final election at the
27    Denver convention; and

28        WHEREAS, He credited his parents, Warren  Sr.  and  Karen
29    Jackson, his PTK adviser David Ponce, and his many friends in
30    the   Alpha   Lambda   Epsilon  chapter  and  other  chapters
31    nationally for the honor; and

 1        WHEREAS, As international president,  Warren  Jackson,  a
 2    political  science major with minors in speech communications
 3    and environmental studies, will travel the  country  to  talk
 4    about   PTK   and  educational  goals,  and  will  receive  a
 5    scholarship for his presidency; therefore be it

 6        RESOLVED  BY  THE  HOUSE  OF   REPRESENTATIVES   OF   THE
 7    NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
 8    we   congratulate   Warren   Jackson   on   his  election  as
 9    international president of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society; and
10    be it further

11        RESOLVED, That a suitable  copy  of  this  Resolution  be
12    delivered to Warren Jackson as an expression of our esteem.
