1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The Members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are pleased to recognize significant
4 milestone events in the lives of citizens of the State of
5 Illinois; and
6 WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that Ed Bell is
7 retiring after 38 years of teaching; and
8 WHEREAS, Ed Bell taught social studies, government, and
9 history at East Park Junior High School in Danville 1963-1980
10 and at Danville High School 1980-2001; and
11 WHEREAS, Danville School Superintendent David Fields,
12 principal of East Park Junior High School when Ed Bell taught
13 there, praised him as "simply an outstanding teacher"; and
14 WHEREAS, Ed Bell was educated in the small central
15 Illinois towns of Garland, Metcalf, and Hume, starting school
16 in a one-room schoolhouse in Garland and graduating from
17 Young America High School in Hume in 1959; he received his
18 bachelor's degree in social studies from Eastern Illinois
19 University in 1963 and his master's degree in education from
20 the University of Illinois in 1973; and
21 WHEREAS, Ed Bell plans to spend his retirement with his
22 wife, Tillie, who runs an antique store in Danville, and also
23 would like to travel, especially to visit his sons, Tim and
24 Steve, in Florida; therefore be it
25 RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
26 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
27 we congratulate Ed Bell on his 38 years as a teacher and on
28 his retirement; and we wish him well in all of his future
29 endeavors; and be it further
30 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this Resolution be

1 delivered to Ed Bell as an expression of our esteem.
