92_HR0401 LRB9209017RHrh 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 3 Representatives are pleased to recognize milestone 4 achievements in the lives of the citizens of the State of 5 Illinois; and 6 WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that Felicia Austin 7 has been named the State of Illinois' Correctional Officer of 8 the Year; and 9 WHEREAS, Felicia Austin began working at the Danville 10 Correctional Center three years ago; she has worked in just 11 about every job there, including in the towers, main gate, 12 armory, in the housing units, and health care; and 13 WHEREAS, Felicia Austin is currently a movement officer 14 who moves inmates from one building to another; and 15 WHEREAS, Felicia Austin is active in athletics; she was 16 awarded a basketball and softball scholarship to Lincoln 17 College; she later received a scholarship to play softball at 18 Morehead State University in Kentucky, where she majored in 19 sociology with an emphasis in corrections; and 20 WHEREAS, The Danville Correctional Center has seen two 21 other employees named Correctional Officer of the Year in the 22 past five years; Felicia Austin was one of 16,000 23 Correctional Officers nominated for this honor; and 24 WHEREAS, Felicia Austin is fulfilling her dream of 25 working in a setting where she helps others; she represents a 26 good example of the excellent work being done by officers at 27 the Danville Correctional Center; therefore, be it 28 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 29 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 30 we congratulate Felicia Austin on being named the 2001 State -2- LRB9209017RHrh 1 of Illinois' Correctional Officer of the Year; and be it 2 further 3 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 4 presented to Felicia Austin as an expression of our esteem.
