1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are pleased to honor Nancy L. Firfer,
4 President of the Village of Glenview, Illinois, on her
5 retirement; and
6 WHEREAS, Nancy L. Firfer has served as Glenview Village
7 President since 1993; she was recognized as Outstanding Local
8 Elected Official by the Private Industry Council in 1995; and
9 WHEREAS, Nancy L. Firfer served as a member of the Board
10 of Trustees of the Village of Glenview from 1987 to 1993; she
11 served on the Steering Committee of the Glenview Values
12 Project, a community resource effort; she also served as
13 chairwoman of the Glenview Independence Day Commission
14 1989-1993, having been appointed to the Commission in 1987;
15 and
16 WHEREAS, Nancy L. Firfer was a member of the board of
17 Northbrook/Glenview Elementary School District #30 from 1978
18 to 1985, serving as vice president 1980-1981 and as President
19 1981-1985; and
20 WHEREAS, Nancy L. Firfer served on the Northfield
21 Township High School District #225 Board of Education
22 1985-1987; she served as President of the Northwest Municipal
23 Conference 1998-1999; and she has served in numerous other
24 civic positions; and
25 WHEREAS, Nancy L. Firfer received her bachelor's degree
26 from Northwestern University in Evanston in June 1967, with a
27 major in Elementary Education and a minor in Dance Education;
28 she subsequently attended National Lewis University in
29 Evanston and Northeastern Illinois University in Chicago,
30 successfully completing various graduate level education
31 courses; she taught Grades 3 through 6 at a private school in

1 Chicago from October 1968 through June 1973; and
2 WHEREAS, Nancy L. Firfer and her husband, Rick, have
3 three grown children; therefore be it
4 RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
5 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
6 we congratulate Nancy L. Firfer on her retirement as
7 President of the Village of Glenview, Illinois; and be it
8 further
9 RESOLVED, We would also like to extend a very special
10 "Thank You" to Nancy L. Firfer for her years of commitment
11 and dedication to the Village of Glenview and we wish her
12 well in all of her future endeavors; and be it further
13 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14 presented to Nancy L. Firfer as an expression of our esteem.
