92_HR0438 LRB9209143RHrh 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 3 Representatives are pleased to recognize milestone dates in 4 the history of the citizens of the State of Illinois; and 5 WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that Weatau Ann 6 Haley-Barsh has retired after forty years of distinguished 7 service at Marcus Garvey School on June 13, 2001; and 8 WHEREAS, Weatau Ann Haley-Barsh earned her bachelor's 9 degree in Business Administration from Tennessee State 10 University in 1961, her master's degree in Elementary 11 Education from Governors State University in 1975, and an 12 associate's degree in Computer Science from Olive Harvey City 13 College in 1985; and 14 WHEREAS, During her distinguished tenure at Marcus Garvey 15 School, she has exemplified the professional traits of 16 dedication and enthusiasm in her teaching, earning her an 17 excellent rapport not only with her students, but also the 18 faculty, staff, and parents; she serves as a technology 19 coordinator and the leader responsible for training and 20 modeling programs to help the teachers and students at Marcus 21 Garvey to become more technologically proficient; she also 22 serves as a catalyst for technology grants at the school; and 23 WHEREAS, Weatau Ann Haley-Barsh is a member of several 24 community organizations, which include the Holy Name of Mary 25 Catholic Church, the Theta Omega Chapter-Alpha Kappa Alpha 26 Sorority, Inc., the Order of Eastern State, State of 27 Illinois-Prince Hall Affiliation, and the American Investment 28 Club; and 29 WHEREAS, Weatau Ann Haley-Barsh is celebrating her 30 retirement with her family, who include her husband, James 31 Edward Barsh, and her son, James Wendell Barsh; and -2- LRB9209143RHrh 1 WHEREAS, On Friday, May 4, 2001 the faculty and staff at 2 Marcus Garvey School honored Weatau Ann Haley-Barsh in 3 appreciation of her distinguished service in education; and 4 WHEREAS, Weatau Ann Haley-Barsh's dedication and 5 enthusiasm in the field of education serve as an outstanding 6 example for her colleagues, her students, and her community; 7 therefore, be it 8 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 9 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 10 we congratulate Weatau Ann Haley-Barsh of Chicago, Illinois 11 on her retirement from forty years of service at Marcus 12 Garvey School; and we wish her well in all of her future 13 endeavors; and be it further 14 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 15 presented to Weatau Ann Haley-Barsh as an expression of our 16 esteem.
