1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are pleased to recognize milestone events in
4 the lives of the citizens of the State of Illinois; and
5 WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that Vivian
6 Thompson is retiring after 20 years of service at
7 Olive-Harvey College; and
8 WHEREAS, Vivian Thompson is a product of the City College
9 system, graduating with high honors from Kennedy-King
10 College; she received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Human
11 Services with an emphasis in Social Work from Governors State
12 University; and
13 WHEREAS, Vivian Thompson has enjoyed her entire
14 professional career with the City Colleges of Chicago; during
15 her 20-year career, she has served as a counseling assistant
16 and Adult Learning Skills Counselor at Kennedy-King College,
17 as an Admission Counselor for the Dawson Skill Center, and as
18 an Adult Learning Skills Counselor at Olive-Harvey College;
19 and
20 WHEREAS, During her dedicated career as a Counselor and
21 Educator, Vivian Thompson has provided and introduced
22 students to resources that enabled them to overcome barriers
23 and helped them to strive and achieve their educational
24 goals; and
25 WHEREAS, The distinguished career of Vivian Thompson will
26 be honored on June 23, 2001 by her friends and the faculty
27 and staff of Olive-Harvey College; therefore, be it
28 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
29 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
30 we congratulate Vivian Thompson on her retirement after a
31 distinguished career of 20 years at Olive-Harvey College and

1 we wish her well in all of her future endeavors; and be it
2 further
3 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
4 presented to Vivian Thompson as an expression of our esteem.
