 1                          HOUSE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS,  The  members   of   the   Illinois   House   of
 3    Representatives  are  pleased  to  recognize  the  honors and
 4    achievements of Illinois citizens; and

 5        WHEREAS,  A  tragedy  befell  our  nation   on   Tuesday,
 6    September  11,  2001,  in New York City, New York, on a scale
 7    unlike any other that has occurred in our country  in  recent
 8    times; and

 9        WHEREAS,  Public  safety  professionals  from the City of
10    Chicago and  Cook  County  responded  to  this  tragedy  with
11    bravery  by  immediately  going to New York City to volunteer
12    assistance to their fallen brothers and sisters in their time
13    of need; and

14        WHEREAS, These volunteers included  Cook  County  State's
15    Attorney  Tom  Biesty,  Chicago  Police Department Lieutenant
16    James Maloney,  Sergeant  Ron  Evans,  Jr.,  Sergeant  Sergio
17    Rajkovich,  Sergeant  Anthony Wojick, Detective Thomas Ayers,
18    Detective Daniel Engel, Detective Lorne Gushiniere, Detective
19    Edwin Kaup, Detective Thomas McGann,  Detective  Joe  Struck,
20    Detective  Denise  Cannon,  Detective  Vidal Cordova, Officer
21    Edmond Daly, Officer James  R.  Hoffheimer,  Officer  Barbara
22    Martin,  Officer  James  Parker, Officer Mike Parker, Officer
23    Gabrielle Parker,  Youth  Officer  John  D.  Paskey,  Officer
24    Eugene  Posey,  Officer Thomas Purtell, Officer Melvin Roman,
25    Youth Officer Robert Soto, Sergeant Mark Vangiesen,  Sergeant
26    Kenneth   Krok,   Detective   Ken  Boudreau,  Detective  John
27    Fitzsimmons,  Detective  Kevin  Gyrion,   Detective   Raymond
28    Kaminski,  Detective Phillip Mannion, Detective John Riordan,
29    Officer James Brady, Officer Matthew Martinez, Officer  Kevin
30    Morrison, and Officer Joseph O'Connor; and

31        WHEREAS, These volunteers have returned to Illinois after
32    a  week of continuous assistance to the people of the City of

 1    New York and deserve our wholehearted  thanks  and  gratitude
 2    for a job well-done; therefore, be it

 3        RESOLVED,   BY   THE  HOUSE  OF  REPRESENTATIVES  OF  THE
 4    NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
 5    we commend these volunteers and wish each one of them success
 6    in all of their future endeavors; and be it further

 7        RESOLVED, That a suitable  copy  of  this  resolution  be
 8    presented to each of the volunteers.
