92_HR0490 LRB9210672RHrh 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 3 Representatives are pleased to recognize milestone events in 4 the lives of the citizens of the State of Illinois; and 5 WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that Maryann 6 Langenfeld was recently named as Centralia Business and 7 Professional Women's Club 2001 Woman of the Year; and 8 WHEREAS, Maryann Langenfeld, who has dedicated much of 9 her personal and professional time to educational and 10 charitable efforts for many organizations in the Centralia 11 area, received the honor at the Business and Professional 12 Women's Club Brunch on October 14, 2001, surrounded by her 13 family and friends; and 14 WHEREAS, Maryann Langenfeld is a teacher with a doctor of 15 philosophy degree; she teaches physical education and health 16 classes, with an emphasis on the special needs of an adaptive 17 physical education program; she has organized and led many 18 clubs and organizations to successful events in raising money 19 for projects to benefit children, adults, and senior 20 citizens; and 21 WHEREAS, Mary Langenfeld has been involved in numerous 22 community organizations; including St. Mary's/Good Samaritan 23 Hospital Development Council, the Relay for Life Steering 24 Committee, the American Heart Association Heart Walk, the 25 Centralia Area United Fund, the Salvation Army Advisory 26 Board, the Kaskaskia College Foundation Board of Directors, 27 the Centralia Cultural Society, the Project Pride Committee, 28 the Centralia Junior Women's Club, the Healthcare Foundation 29 of Marion, Clinton, and Jefferson Counties, the Centralia 30 Jaycees Charitable Foundation, the Centralia Recreation 31 Board, the Special Olympics, the Centralia Sports Hall of 32 Fame Committee, the American Red Cross and American Red Cross -2- LRB9210672RHrh 1 Blood Procurement Committee, and the Centralia Historical 2 Society Fundraising Committee; and 3 WHEREAS, In addition, Maryann Langenfeld donates her time 4 to St. Mary's Hospital Auxiliary Pink Ladies, Balloon Fest, 5 Tri Chi Sorority, the Meadow Woods Country Club and Ladies 6 Golf Association, Greenview Golf Course Ladies Golf League, 7 Southern Illinois Ladies Golf Association, the KC Foundation 8 35th Anniversary Steering Committee; and the First United 9 Methodist Church; and 10 WHEREAS, Maryann Langenfeld has received several awards, 11 recognitions and honors, including, Outstanding Woman of the 12 Year for her many civic, community, and professional 13 contributions and achievements, golf awards, being named to 14 the governors committee on the handicapped in recognition of 15 her dedication and service to special needs individuals; 16 being appointed teacher of the pilot program for the State of 17 Illinois in adaptive physical education held at Centralia 18 High School, being chosen as a presenter at the Illinois 19 Association of Health, Physical Education and Recreation 20 Convention; and having the Adaptive Physical Education 21 program she taught at Centralia High School serve as a 22 subject of a film produced by the State of Illinois; 23 therefore, be it 24 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 25 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 26 we congratulate Maryann Langenfeld on being chosen as 27 Centralia Business and Professional Women's Club 2001 Woman 28 of the Year; and be it further 29 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 30 presented to Maryann Langenfeld as an expression of our 31 esteem.
