1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are pleased to honor a milestone in high
4 school sports in the State of Illinois; and
5 WHEREAS, The Mt. Pulaski High School Girls Varsity
6 Volleyball Team, the Lady Toppers, captured third place at
7 the IHSA State Class A Volleyball Tournament on November 10,
8 2001; and
9 WHEREAS, The Lady Toppers met the challenge by first
10 defeating Benton High School in the quarterfinals by the
11 score of 15-8 and 15-6; they then went on to the semifinals
12 where they fell to the Lady Raiders of Quincy Notre Dame by
13 the score of 15-8, 9-15, and 8-15; finally, they faced
14 Augusta Southeastern High School in the third-place match; in
15 the end, the Lady Toppers defeated Augusta Southeastern High
16 School by the score of 15-6 and 15-1, and went home with the
17 third-place trophy; and
18 WHEREAS, The Lady Topper team consists of Maggy Gleason,
19 Erin Schmidt, Sarah Reeter, Sarah Nichols, Laura Reeter,
20 Mallory Clements, Stephanie Jason, Bethany Dulle, Chelsea
21 Faith, Tiffany Conaway, Mary Olson, Julie Kutz, Alicia
22 Rankin, Jessica Hanner, and Lindsay Clements; the coach is
23 Donna Dulle; the assistant coach is Wendy Erlandson; and the
24 managers are Nick Waymire, Hallie Reeley, and Dawn Tillquist;
25 and
26 WHEREAS, Although their season may have ended too early,
27 the Lady Toppers displayed outstanding sportsmanship and
28 dedication not only for their coach, but also on behalf of
29 Mt. Pulaski High School, and the Mt. Pulaski community;
30 therefore, be it
31 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE

1 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
2 we congratulate the Mt. Pulaski High School Girls Varsity
3 Volleyball Team on capturing third place honors at the IHSA
4 State Class A Volleyball Tournament; and be it further
5 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
6 presented to Russell Galusha, principal of Mt. Pulaski High
7 School, Donna Dulle, head coach of the Lady Toppers, Wendy
8 Erlandson, assistant coach, and to each member of the Lady
9 Toppers team as an expression of our esteem.
