92_HR0670 LRB9211348RHrh 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The eighth grade mathematics students at 3 Clarendon Hills Middle School in Community Consolidated 4 School District 181 understand the importance of mathematics 5 in their lives and education; and 6 WHEREAS, Because the number pi equals approximately 3.14 7 and March 14 is represented numerically as 3/14, the students 8 have petitioned the Illinois House of Representatives to 9 declare March 14, 2002 to be Pi Day in the State of Illinois; 10 and 11 WHEREAS, The students want to recognize and celebrate the 12 importance of mathematics and have come up with a clever way 13 for the State of Illinois to do so in a special way; 14 therefore, be it 15 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 16 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 17 we declare March 14, 2002, to be Pi Day in the State of 18 Illinois in recognition and celebration of the importance of 19 mathematics; and be it further 20 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 21 presented to the eighth grade mathematics students at 22 Clarendon Hills Middle School.
