92_HR0767 LRB9216530BHbh 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 3 Representatives are proud to recognize those citizens of 4 Illinois who have contributed to the cultural development and 5 education of this State; and 6 WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that Jean Hove of 7 Elgin has contributed greatly to her community by providing 8 the priceless gift of music to her fellow citizens; and 9 WHEREAS, Jean Hove was one of the three founding members 10 of the Elgin Symphony Orchestra, currently the nation's 11 fastest growing and Illinois' premier regional orchestra; and 12 WHEREAS, Mrs. Hove has played with the Elgin Symphony 13 Orchestra since its inception in 1950, and played in the 14 Orchestra's inaugural concert, held at Elgin High School, on 15 April 17, 1951; and 16 WHEREAS, Mrs. Hove has filled the seat of principal 17 viola, concertmistress, Assistant Concert Master, and 18 currently plays in the violin section; she has worked with 19 all three music directors of the Elgin Symphony Orchestra, 20 Maestro Douglas Steensland, Maestra Margaret Hillis, and the 21 current director, Maestro Robert Hanson; and 22 WHEREAS, Jean Hove has been an active music educator 23 since moving to Elgin in 1948; she raised two musicians, 24 Alice Hove, an elementary school music teacher in Schaumburg 25 school district 54, and Carolyn Hove, a solo English horn 26 player with the Los Angeles Philharmonic; and 27 WHEREAS, Jean Hove has played with 60 of her students and 28 her two daughters in the Elgin Symphony Orchestra, while 29 three of her students remain in the string section of the 30 Orchestra: Mark Kuntz, Sue Ollman, and Sandy Simpson; 31 therefore, be it -2- LRB9216530BHbh 1 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 2 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 3 we congratulate Jean Hove for her outstanding contributions 4 to the Elgin Symphony Orchestra, the people of her community, 5 and the world of music; and be it further 6 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 7 presented to Jean Hove as an expression of our esteem.
