92_HR0885 LRB9216892BHbh 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 3 Representatives are proud to congratulate those citizens of 4 this State who have committed themselves to helping the less 5 fortunate; and 6 WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that Patricia 7 Elizabeth Condon of Chicago has dedicated herself to 8 enriching the lives of mentally-handicapped citizens through 9 the Special Olympics; and 10 WHEREAS, Patricia Condon was born on June 16, 1923, in 11 Sioux Falls, South Dakota; she was educated at Providence 12 High School in Chicago and attended 2 years of college; she 13 married the late David Rensing Condon on March 29, 1948; they 14 had six children together, Kathleen Anne Irene, Barbara Leona 15 Marie, Susan Joanne Margaret, Mary Elizabeth Louise, David 16 Anthony Paul, and Patricia Colleen Moira; and 17 WHEREAS, Patricia Condon's initial input and leadership 18 was instrumental in the development of what has become the 19 Illinois Special Olympics, and her many years of direct 20 service to the Chicago Park District with the Special 21 Olympics has developed into a program that is a model for the 22 nation; and 23 WHEREAS, Patricia Condon served on the Board of the 24 Illinois Special Olympics for 6 years and is presently a 25 member of the Illinois Special Olympics Heritage Committee; 26 she has worked effectively for a number of years with the 27 Special Children's Charities Foundation to establish a 28 program model to provide direct services for individuals with 29 mental handicaps; and 30 WHEREAS, Patricia Condon has dedicated her professional 31 career to serving individuals with mental handicaps; her -2- LRB9216892BHbh 1 leadership has led to a much richer lifestyle and community 2 access for the Chicago Special Olympians; therefore, be it 3 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 4 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 5 we recognize Patricia Elizabeth Condon for her leadership in 6 the development of the Illinois Special Olympics program and 7 her lifelong commitment to services for Special Olympians; 8 and be it further 9 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 10 presented to Patricia Elizabeth Condon of Chicago as an 11 expression of our esteem.
