92_HR0897 LRB9216838RHrh 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 3 Representatives wish to express their sincere condolences to 4 the family and friends of Emma C. Tucker, who passed away on 5 April 30, 2002; and 6 WHEREAS, Emma Hill Tucker was born on March 5, 1934, the 7 youngest of six children, to Hattie Trice Hill and Andrew 8 Hill; and 9 WHEREAS, Mrs. Tucker was raised in Shannon, Mississippi, 10 and graduated from Shannon High School in 1954; after 11 graduation, she married Ernest Tucker on April 19, 1954 in 12 Okolona, Mississippi, and moved to the Chicago area; and 13 WHEREAS, The Tuckers were one of the first in their 14 families to join the migration from the south, and they 15 encouraged others to follow; the Tucker household soon became 16 the temporary home for a host of relatives and friends 17 heading north; Mrs. Tucker was an exceptional cook and 18 enjoyed making tasty homemade meals in her home; and 19 WHEREAS, Emma Tucker happily devoted her life to her 20 husband and children; she was active in the PTA and 21 volunteered at her children's schools; once the children all 22 graduated from high school, she held a small job as a 23 teacher's aide at a neighborhood Daycare Center; for the last 24 15 years, she was an active member of the Oak Park Women's 25 Exchange, creating and selling her handmade crafts; she was 26 also a dedicated member of Christ Tabernacle Church for 27 nearly 30 years; and 28 WHEREAS, The passing of Emma Tucker will be deeply felt 29 by all who knew and loved her, especially her husband, 30 Ernest; her children, Joyce (Burnett), Dorothy (Tony), and 31 Corona (Monique); her grandchildren, Mema, Bilal, Rahman, -2- LRB9216838RHrh 1 Laila, Trevor, Cody, Cameron, Nya, and Cyle; her 2 great-grandchildren, Bilal and Christopher; her sister, 3 Virgie; her half-sisters, Pearl, Alice, and Andrea; her 4 half-brothers, Wendell and Charles; and a host of additional 5 family members and friends; therefore, be it 6 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 7 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 8 we mourn, along with all who knew her, the death of Emma 9 Tucker; and be it further 10 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 11 presented to the family of Emma Tucker with our sincere 12 condolences.
