92_HR0918 LRB9216899RHrh 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 3 Representatives are honored to recognize milestone events in 4 the lives of the citizens of the State of Illinois; and 5 WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that the Reverend 6 Robert J. Roll is celebrating the 25th anniversary of his 7 ordination as a priest; and 8 WHEREAS, Reverend Robert J. Roll was born on January 14, 9 1951 to the late John Joseph and Rosemary B. Manicki Roll; he 10 is the brother of Jan Baumgartner and Claudia Roll; and 11 WHEREAS, Father Roll attended Orchard Place Grammar 12 School and Our Lady of Hope Grammar School and graduated from 13 Quigley Seminary North High School in 1969; he earned his 14 bachelor's degree in 1973 from Niles College of Loyola and 15 received his Master of Divinity degree from St. Mary of the 16 Lake Seminary in 1977; and 17 WHEREAS, Reverend Robert Roll was ordained on May 11, 18 1977 by John Cardinal Cody; he celebrated his first Mass on 19 May 13, 1977 at Our Lady of Hope Church; and 20 WHEREAS, Reverend Robert J. Roll was assigned as pastor 21 of Saints Peter and Paul on February 1, 1986; he had 22 previously served at St. Constance Parish in Chicago from 23 1977 to 1983, St. Giles Parish in Oak Park from 1983 to 1985, 24 and St. Cornelius Parish from 1985 to 1986; he also worked 25 with the Archdiocesan Office of Radio and Television from 26 1977 to 1980 and served as a Deacon at St. Anne's Parish from 27 1976 to 1977; and 28 WHEREAS, Father Roll's other assignments include his 29 participation in the radio program, "Polonia Today" with Chet 30 and Dolores Schafer, service as a Non-Resident Pastor of St. 31 Maurice Parish since 1997, and Archdiocesan Dean from 1998 to -2- LRB9216899RHrh 1 2001; and 2 WHEREAS, Upon his arrival at Saints Peter and Paul 3 Parish, Father Roll immediately undertook the establishment 4 of a needed Senior Citizens Organization, now called "The 5 Friendship Club"; soon after, the Our Lady of Guadalupe 6 Society was established to serve the members of the 7 Mexican-American community; and 8 WHEREAS, Father Roll has a lasting love for the arts that 9 started with his family and then was deepened by the 10 influence of Monsignor Joseph Mroczkowski, the choir director 11 at Quigley Seminary North; Father Roll rededicated the Church 12 to bringing the fine arts to the Southwest Side of Chicago, 13 including annual concerts by renowned musical talents and 14 forming and fashioning different venues such as Octoberfest, 15 Taste of Paulina Festivals, and the Heart of Saints Peter and 16 Paul Celebrations; his most outstanding achievement was the 17 Centennial Mass and Navy Pier Celebration in 1995; and 18 WHEREAS, The members of Saints Peter and Paul Parish will 19 celebrate Father Robert Roll's 25th Anniversary as a priest 20 on May 19, 2002; therefore, be it 21 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 22 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 23 we congratulate Reverend Robert J. Roll on the celebration of 24 his 25th anniversary of his ordination; and be it further 25 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 26 presented to the Reverend Robert J. Roll as an expression of 27 our esteem.
