1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The men and women of the U.S. Armed Forces serve
3 our great nation and protect our country and freedoms every
4 day; and
5 WHEREAS, We support our men and women in uniform who are
6 risking their lives to preserve our freedom and way of life;
7 and
8 WHEREAS, May is National Military Appreciation Month and
9 the month in which Americans celebrate Memorial Day; and
10 WHEREAS, Now is the time to thank America's heroes for
11 their sacrifice; and
12 WHEREAS, McDonald's National Salute to the U.S. Military
13 pays tribute to the brave men and women who dedicate their
14 lives to serving our country; and
15 WHEREAS, McDonald's has a long, rich history of
16 broad-based support of social responsibility and commitment
17 to give back to the communities in which it serves; and
18 WHEREAS, McDonald's will join others to pay tribute to
19 those men and women through a nationally televised special
20 called, "Rockin' for the USA: A National Salute to the U.S.
21 Military", which will air Memorial Day weekend on CBS
22 (Saturday, May 25, at 9 p.m. EST); and
23 WHEREAS, McDonald's will host community rallies at
24 restaurants throughout the country to salute and celebrate
25 local heroes who serve in the U.S. Military; therefore, be it
26 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
27 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
28 we do hereby join with the rest of the nation in recognizing
29 National Military Appreciation Month and our men and women in
30 uniform here at home and around the world, and we urge the

1 Illinois cities to do likewise; and be it further
2 RESOLVED, That we commend McDonald's for their
3 long-standing commitment to serving those who serve in the
4 U.S. Armed Forces; and be it further
5 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
6 presented to the Adjutant General, the United States
7 Secretary of Defense, and the McDonald's Corporation.
