1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are proud to congratulate Mike and Karen
4 Grant of Mount Greenwood in Chicago on receiving the Mt.
5 Greenwood Civic Association's Outstanding Leadership Award
6 for 2002; and
7 WHEREAS, Mike and Karen Grant are lifetime residents of
8 Mt. Greenwood and are the proud parents of four children; as
9 parents, they have devoted considerable time to coaching
10 local sports' teams, chaperoning activities, and supervising
11 school events; and
12 WHEREAS, Mike and Karen Grant are active members of the
13 Saint Christina Parish family and have contributed to many
14 parish related events, including Summer Fest, the 75th
15 Anniversary Celebration, the St. Patrick's Day party, and the
16 capital campaign, Building on Our Blessing; and
17 WHEREAS, Mike and Karen Grant are the owners of two
18 highly respected Mt. Greenwood restaurants, Wonderburger and
19 La Fiesta; between both restaurants, the Grant family has
20 given hundreds of local teenagers their first working
21 experience, a tribute to their patience and faith in the
22 young people of the community; and
23 WHEREAS, Mike and Karen Grant are generous in supporting
24 local community, church, and school events, from issuing gift
25 certificates, to hosting gatherings, to sharing parking
26 arrangements; they are members of the Chamber of Commerce,
27 and Mike Grant was a director of the Mt. Greenwood Local
28 Redevelopment Corp. for four years; Karen Grant is a block
29 captain; therefore, be it
30 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
31 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that

1 we congratulate Mike and Karen Grant for receiving the Mt.
2 Greenwood Civic Association's 2002 Leadership Award and wish
3 them all the best in their future endeavors; and be it
4 further
5 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
6 presented to Mike and Karen Grant as a symbol of our
7 appreciation.
