92_HR0970 LRB9216986RHrh 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The Association of Desk and Derrick Clubs (ADDC) 3 is a non-profit international organization whose purpose is 4 to promote the educational and professional development of 5 individuals employed in or affiliated with the petroleum, 6 energy, and allied industries; and 7 WHEREAS, For more than 50 years, ADDC has maintained its 8 status as a major contributor of energy education through 9 informative programs, onsite field trips, seminars, and 10 workshops; and 11 WHEREAS, Darlene Turner joined the Association of Desk 12 and Derrick Clubs in 1983 and has served the local club on 13 various committees, as a member of the Board of Directors, 14 and as a club officer; her first Association-level position 15 was in 1993 when she served as Regional Director for the 16 states of Illinois, Missouri, Iowa, Indiana, Michigan, 17 Minnesota, and Kentucky; she was elected Association 18 Treasurer in 1997, chaired the Association Long Range 19 Planning Committee in 1998, and was editor of the Association 20 publication "Desk and Derrick Journal" in 1999; and 21 WHEREAS, Darlene Turner was elected Association 22 Vice-President in 2000, President-Elect in 2001, and is 23 currently serving as Association President; and 24 WHEREAS, With the assistance of a fourteen-member Board 25 of Directors, Darlene Turner is responsible for overseeing 26 the operation of the Association Distribution Office in 27 Tulsa, Oklahoma and for appointing and staffing volunteers 28 for twenty-one committees; and 29 WHEREAS, Darlene Turner is responsible for coordinating 30 the 2002 International Convention that will be held in 31 Denver, Colorado, on September 1st through 8th, 2002; the -2- LRB9216986RHrh 1 Convention will include educational field trips and seminars, 2 an industry luncheon, an awards luncheon, and a banquet, as 3 well as the convention business sessions; and 4 WHEREAS, In conducting Association business over the past 5 two years, Darlene Turner has traveled to Shreveport, 6 Louisiana, Mt. Pleasant, Mississippi, Tulsa, Oklahoma, St. 7 Louis, Missouri, Fort Worth, Texas, Albuquerque, New Mexico, 8 Houma, Louisiana, Evansville, Indiana, Houston, Texas, 9 Denver, Colorado, Bartlesville, Oklahoma, and Grand Prairie, 10 Alberta, Canada; and 11 WHEREAS, Darlene Turner and her husband, Arthur Wayne 12 Turner, are the parents of William Arthur Turner, Cheryl 13 Jalone Perrin, and Clinton David Turner and the grandparents 14 of Terry Morgan, Lacey Perrin, Trace Turner, Crayton Turner, 15 Maggie Kay Turner, Jerika Morgan, and Julana Morgan; 16 therefore, be it 17 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 18 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 19 we congratulate Darlene Turner on her dedication and service 20 as President of the Association of Desk and Derrick Clubs; 21 and be it further 22 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 23 presented to Darlene Turner as an expression of our esteem.
