92_HR0996 LRB9217044RHrhA 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 3 Representatives are honored to recognize milestone events in 4 the lives of the citizens of the State of Illinois; and 5 WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that Father George 6 Mauck, pastor of St. Mary's Parish in Carlyle, recently 7 celebrated the 25th anniversary of his ordination as a priest 8 surrounded by his family, friends, and fellow parishioners; 9 and 10 WHEREAS, Father Mauck was born on July 6, 1950 to Walter 11 and Aurelia Mauck, Sr., in McLeansboro, Illinois; he is the 12 brother of Carl Mauck and Walter Mauck, Jr.; and 13 WHEREAS, Father Mauck was ordained a transitional deacon 14 on May 4, 1976 in Collegeville, Minnesota; following his 15 diaconate ordination, he served at St. Martin of Tours Parish 16 in Washington Park, Illinois; and 17 WHEREAS, On May 28, 1977, Father George Mauck was 18 ordained a priest, along with Father Tom Stout and Father Tom 19 Miller, for the Diocese of Belleville at St. Peter's 20 Cathedral by Bishop William Cosgrove; and 21 WHEREAS, Following his ordination to the priesthood, 22 Father Mauck served as a religion teacher, an administrator, 23 and a basketball coach at Assumption High School in East St. 24 Louis; in addition, he served Holy Family Parish in Cahokia 25 from 1977 to 1978, St. Regis Parish in East St. Louis from 26 1978 to 1983, and Sacred Heart Parish in Dupo from 1983 to 27 1986; in 1986 he was named pastor of St. Joseph parishes in 28 Olney and Stringtown, where he served until 1994; he then 29 attended the fall session of The Center for Continuing 30 Formation in Ministry at Notre Dame University in South Bend, 31 Indiana; and -2- LRB9217044RHrhA 1 WHEREAS, Father Mauck has served as pastor of St. Mary 2 Parish in Carlyle since December 16, 1994; and 3 WHEREAS, Father Mauck is widely admired and respected 4 despite his association with Harold Monken and Kurt Granberg, 5 the sponsor of this resolution; and 6 WHEREAS, Father Mauck is the "svelte" version of his 7 brother Carl; therefore, be it 8 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 9 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 10 we congratulate Father George Mauck on the celebration of his 11 25th anniversary of ordination as a priest; and be it further 12 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 13 presented to Father George Mauck as an expression of our 14 esteem.
