92_HR1006 LRB9217086BHbhA 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 3 Representatives are proud to congratulate Lieutenant Peter F. 4 Dignan of the Chicago Police Department on his retirement 5 after 33 years of service; and 6 WHEREAS, Lieutenant Dignan was born November 29, 1946; he 7 and his wife, Cheryl Lynn, have 4 children, Mary, Andrew, 8 Allison, and Peter; and 9 WHEREAS, Lieutenant Dignan was a member of the United 10 States Marine Corps and began his highly decorated career 11 with the Chicago Police Department on March 31, 1969; and 12 WHEREAS, Throughout his career, Lieutenant Dignan has 13 earned numerous awards, including 4 Department Commendations, 14 a Superintendent Award of Valor, a Police Blue Star, 2 Unit 15 Meritorious Awards, a Blue Shield Award, 111 honorable 16 mentions, and 22 complimentary letters; and 17 WHEREAS, Lieutenant Dignan will retire on June 16, 2002; 18 he has been a valuable asset to the Chicago Police Department 19 and will be greatly missed, especially by the brave men and 20 women currently serving and protecting with him from the 21st 21 Police District; and 22 WHEREAS, Lieutenant Dignan's 3rd Watch Officers from the 23 21st Police District will greatly miss an irreplaceable boss; 24 their unwavering respect and admiration will continue for the 25 man they know as "The Working Police"; therefore, be it 26 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 27 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 28 we thank Lieutenant Peter F. Dignan for his commitment to 29 honorably serve and protect the citizens of the city of 30 Chicago and congratulate him on his retirement, wishing him 31 all the best in his future endeavors; and be it further -2- LRB9217086BHbhA 1 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 2 presented to Lieutenant Peter F. Dignan as an expression of 3 our esteem and respect.
