92_HR1034 LRB9217425BHbhA 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 3 Representatives are proud to recognize significant events in 4 the lives of the citizens of this State; and 5 WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that the Honorable 6 N. Duane Noland of the Illinois State Senate has been 7 recognized by the Easter Seals for his involvement on 8 statewide issues of disability legislation that has allowed 9 people with disabilities to gain greater independence; he 10 will be honored along with his wife, Tina Noland, at a 11 tribute dinner on November 8, 2002; and 12 WHEREAS, Senator Noland has represented the citizens of 13 central Illinois since 1990 as a member of the Illinois 14 General Assembly; he is completing his second term in the 15 Senate after serving four terms in the Illinois House of 16 Representatives; along with his legislative duties, Senator 17 Noland is the seventh generation to farm the centennial 18 family farm in Macon and Christian counties, which he farms 19 along with his father and two brothers; and 20 WHEREAS, In the Senate, Senator Noland serves as 21 Vice-Chairman of the Agriculture and Conservation Committee 22 and is a member of the Licensed Activities and State 23 Government Operations Committees; he previously served as 24 chairman of the House Agriculture Committee; and 25 WHEREAS, Senator Noland is on the Boards of Directors of 26 the Mid-Illinois Chapter of the American Red Cross and 27 Lincoln Trails Council of Boy Scouts of America, and he is a 28 member of First Christian Church of Decatur; he has been 29 honored by numerous organizations for outstanding public 30 service, including the Chamber of Commerce Civic Leadership 31 Award, and the Council for Food and Agriculture Research 32 Award; and -2- LRB9217425BHbhA 1 WHEREAS, Senator Noland graduated with high honors from 2 the University of Illinois with a Bachelor of Science in 3 Agriculture; he and his wife, Tina Noland, a Millikin 4 University graduate, are the parents of two sons, Grant and 5 Blake; and 6 WHEREAS, Senator Noland has received numerous awards and 7 recognitions, including the "Friend of Agriculture" award in 8 1996, the "Friend of the Family" award in 1997, the 9 "Legislator of the Year" award from ABATE in 1998, the 10 Jaycees "Outstanding Young Farmer" award, the DuPont "Young 11 Leader" award, and the American Soybean Association 12 "Outstanding Young Leader for Illinois" award; he is a 13 graduate of the Farm Bureau A LOT program and a fellow in the 14 John J. McCloy European Agriculture fellowship; and 15 WHEREAS, Senator Noland is dedicated to his community and 16 provides his services as a youth baseball and basketball 17 coach; therefore, be it 18 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 19 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 20 we congratulate Senator N. Duane Noland for his services and 21 involvement on issues concerning the betterment of the lives 22 of the people of the 51st Senate District and the State of 23 Illinois; and be it further 24 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 25 presented to Senator Noland as an expression of our esteem.
