92_HR1089 LRB9218269HShs 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, Education is one of the most noble professions 3 and educators deserve honor and respect; and 4 WHEREAS, Patrick J. Kenny received his Bachelor of Arts 5 in 1968 and his Master of Education in 1973 from Loyola 6 University in Chicago; he began his teaching career at Cooley 7 Upper Grade Center in September of 1968; he then taught at 8 Cooley Vocational High School until January of 1979; he 9 became associate principal of Hirsch High School in January 10 of 1979 and stayed as acting principal until February of 11 1980; he also served as acting principal at Sayre Language 12 Academy and Parker Academy; he served as principal of Bunche 13 Elementary School from October 1982 until August 2001; he 14 finished his career as an administrator in the Region 5 15 Office from August 2001 until his retirement in July of 2002; 16 and 17 WHEREAS, Mr. Kenny is a member of St. Ignatius Parish; he 18 is a former member of the Chicago Teachers Union and served 19 as a delegate; he is a member of the Chicago Principals and 20 Administrators Association and served as the Auxiliary 21 President; his contributions to the community also include 22 service as president of the Aquin Guild and membership in the 23 Guilford-Waters Association and CAPS Beat 2432; and 24 WHEREAS, Mr. Kenny holds several positive core beliefs; 25 he believes in fostering the human and social development and 26 academic growth of children; he believes cooperation with 27 parents and the community is essential for an educator; he 28 believes in being a resource to and a supporter of staff and 29 being involved with colleagues; he feels that positive 30 actions motivate people and a sense of humor is important; 31 therefore, be it 32 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE -2- LRB9218269HShs 1 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 2 we congratulate Patrick J. Kenny of Chicago on the occasion 3 of his retirement after 34 years of dedicated service with 4 the Chicago Board of Education and we wish him all the best 5 in his future endeavors; and be it further 6 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 7 presented to Patrick J. Kenny as an expression of our esteem.
