92_HR1178 LRB9218462HShs 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of 3 the State of Illinois were saddened to learn of the death of 4 Michael J. Ditore of LaGrange on September 4, 2002; and 5 WHEREAS, Michael J. Ditore received a Bachelor of Arts 6 Degree in history from Illinois Benedictine College in 1971; 7 in 1974 he was awarded a Master's Degree in journalism from 8 Sangamon State University; in 1979 he received his Juris 9 Doctor Degree, cum laude, from Northern Illinois University 10 where he graduated second in his class and was a teaching 11 assistant, a law review member, and the recipient of the West 12 and Callaghan Scholastic Achievement awards; and 13 WHEREAS, After clerking for former federal District Court 14 Judge Nicolas Bua, he served as an Assistant State's Attorney 15 in Cook County from 1979 to 1984; he served in the Illinois 16 Attorney General's Office from 1984 to 1992 and he was the 17 Deputy Director of Criminal Enforcement when he left to enter 18 into private practice; and 19 WHEREAS, Among his many accomplishments during his 20 distinguished legal career, he prosecuted many felony cases, 21 including capital punishment cases; he litigated numerous 22 civil matters, including cases involving the Illinois 23 Consumer Fraud Act, the Illinois Securities Law, and long 24 term care facility law; he drafted and filed appeals in the 25 Illinois Appellate Court and drafted appeals and argued cases 26 before the Illinois Supreme Court; he was the lead prosecutor 27 in the investigation of the murder of Kane County attorney 28 Tim McNamee; and 29 WHEREAS, He was a member of the American Bar Association, 30 the Chicago Bar Association, and the Chicago Chamber of 31 Commerce - Crime Prevention Committee; and -2- LRB9218462HShs 1 WHEREAS, Mike Ditore was the loving father of Michael D. 2 Ditore, the brother of the late John Ditore, the son of the 3 late Gabriel and Dee Ditore, and the beloved friend of Cheri 4 Kvinge; therefore, be it 5 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 6 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 7 we mourn the passing of Michael J. Ditore, we honor him for 8 his commitment and devotion to the ideals of public service 9 and justice, and we extend our sincere condolences to his 10 family and friends; and be it further 11 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 12 presented to the family of Michael J. Ditore with our deepest 13 sympathy.
