1 AN ACT in relation to public utilities.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The Public Utilities Act is amended by adding
5 Section 13-517 as follows:
6 (220 ILCS 5/13-517 new)
7 Sec. 13-517. Limitation on area code implementation. No
8 new area code that will overlay or divide an existing area
9 code shall be implemented until 90% of the available
10 telephone numbers in the existing area code are assigned to
11 consumers.
12 Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
13 becoming law.
