92_SB0469 LRB9207972TAtm 1 AN ACT concerning townships. 2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, 3 represented in the General Assembly: 4 Section 5. The Township Code is amended by changing 5 Section 30-140 as follows: 6 (60 ILCS 1/30-140) 7 Sec. 30-140. Regulation of certain occupations. In 8 counties with a population of less than 3,000,000, the 9 electors may regulate hawkers, peddlers, pawnbrokers, 10 itinerant merchants, and transient vendors of merchandise. 11 The township board in those counties may require that any 12 such person register his or her name and the name of any firm 13 he or she represents with the township clerk and may make 14 reasonable restrictions of the hours during which he or she 15 may engage in door-to-door solicitation. The township board 16 in those counties also may prohibit the activities of any 17 categories of persons as it determines to be in the best 18 interest of township residents. Any regulation under this 19 Section doesshallnot apply within the boundaries of a city, 20 village, or incorporated town. 21 (Source: P.A. 84-822; 88-62.)
