1 AN ACT regarding libraries.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The Illinois Library System Act is amended by
5 adding Section 7.1 as follows:
6 (75 ILCS 10/7.1 new)
7 Sec. 7.1. Task Force; coordinating libraries.
8 (a) There is hereby established a Task Force consisting
9 of 9 members appointed by the Governor with the advice and
10 consent of the Senate. The Task Force may begin to conduct
11 business upon the appointment of a majority of the members.
12 Members of the Task Force shall serve for the duration of the
13 Task Force. Members of the Task Force shall serve without
14 compensation.
15 (b) The Task Force shall explore the ways and means to
16 (i) coordinate school libraries with current library systems;
17 (ii) aid libraries in implementing new technologies; and
18 (iii) create a state-wide library service for all of
19 Illinois.
20 (c) The Task Force shall submit a report of its findings
21 and recommendations to the Governor and the General Assembly
22 on or before January 1, 2003.
23 (d) This Section is repealed on January 1, 2003.
