1 AN ACT in relation to townships.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The Township Code is amended by changing
5 Section 250-5 as follows:
6 (60 ILCS 1/250-5)
7 Sec. 250-5. Transfers between from general fund and to
8 general assistance fund. The township board may direct the
9 transfer of any amount from the township general fund to the
10 township general assistance fund that is not appropriated for
11 purposes other than general assistance and may provide for
12 paying into the general assistance fund any moneys received
13 by the township from any source other than taxes that can be
14 made available for general assistance purposes.
15 The township board of a township located in a county with
16 a population of 3,000,000 or more may direct the transfer of
17 any amount from the township general assistance fund to the
18 township general fund if the amount transferred is used
19 either for support and maintenance of service programs for
20 children under 18 or for support and maintenance of service
21 programs for senior citizens over 60 years of age.

23 Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
24 becoming law.
