92_SB1528 LRB9210768DHgc 1 AN ACT in relation to vehicles. 2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, 3 represented in the General Assembly: 4 Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by 5 changing Section 3-806.3 as follows: 6 (625 ILCS 5/3-806.3) (from Ch. 95 1/2, par. 3-806.3) 7 Sec. 3-806.3. Senior Citizens. 8Commencing with the 1986 registration year and extending9through the 2000 registration year, the registration fee paid10by any vehicle owner who has claimed and received a grant11under the "Senior Citizens and Disabled Persons Property Tax12Relief and Pharmaceutical Assistance Act" or who is the13spouse of such a person shall be reduced by 50% for passenger14cars displaying standard multi-year registration plates15issued under Section 3-414.1, motor vehicles displaying16special registration plates issued under Section 3-616, motor17vehicles registered at 8,000 pounds or less under Section183-815(a) and recreational vehicles registered at 8,000 pounds19or less under Section 3-815(b). Widows and widowers of20claimants shall also be entitled to the reduced registration21rate for the registration year in which the claimant was22eligible.23 Commencing with the 2001 registration year and extending 24 through the 2002 registration year, the registration fee paid 25 by any vehicle owner who has claimed and received a grant 26 under the"Senior Citizens and Disabled Persons Property Tax 27 Relief and Pharmaceutical Assistance Act"or who is the 28 spouse of such a person shall be $24 instead of the fee 29 otherwise provided in this Code for passenger cars displaying 30 standard multi-year registration plates issued under Section 31 3-414.1, motor vehicles displaying special registration -2- LRB9210768DHgc 1 plates issued under Section 3-616, motor vehicles registered 2 at 8,000 pounds or less under Section 3-815(a), and 3 recreational vehicles registered at 8,000 pounds or less 4 under Section 3-815(b). Widows and widowers of claimants 5 shall also be entitled to this reduced registration fee for 6 the registration year in which the claimant was eligible. 7 Commencing with the 2003 registration year, the 8 registration fee paid by any vehicle owner who has claimed 9 and received a grant under the Senior Citizens and Disabled 10 Persons Property Tax Relief and Pharmaceutical Assistance Act 11 or who is the spouse of such a person shall be $24 instead of 12 the fee otherwise provided in this Code for passenger cars 13 displaying standard multi-year registration plates issued 14 under Section 3-414.1, motor vehicles displaying special 15 registration plates issued under Section 3-616 or 3-624, 16 motor vehicles registered at 8,000 pounds or less under 17 subsection (a) of Section 3-815, and recreational vehicles 18 registered at 8,000 pounds or less under subsection (b) of 19 Section 3-815. Widows and widowers of claimants shall also 20 be entitled to this reduced registration fee for the 21 registration year in which the claimant was eligible. 22 No more than one reduced registration fee under this 23 Section shall be allowed during any 12 month period based on 24 the primary eligibility of any individual, whether such 25 reduced registration fee is allowed to the individual or to 26 the spouse, widow or widower of such individual. This 27 Section does not apply to the fee paid in addition to the 28 registration fee for motor vehicles displaying personalized 29 license plates under Section 3-806.1. 30 (Source: P.A. 91-37, eff. 7-1-99.) 31 Section 99.
