92_SB1777enr SB1777 Enrolled LRB9215840NTpk 1 AN ACT in relation to teacher certification. 2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, 3 represented in the General Assembly: 4 Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding Section 5 21-28 as follows: 6 (105 ILCS 5/21-28 new) 7 Sec. 21-28. Special education teachers; categorical 8 certification. The State Teacher Certification Board shall 9 categorically certify a special education teacher in one or 10 more of the following specialized categories of disability if 11 the special education teacher applies and qualifies for such 12 certification: 13 (1) Serious emotional disturbance. 14 (2) Learning disabilities. 15 (3) Autism. 16 (4) Mental retardation. 17 (5) Orthopedic (physical) impairment. 18 (6) Traumatic brain injury. 19 (7) Other health impairment. 20 Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon 21 becoming law.
