92_SB1814ham001 LRB9212182BDdvam01 1 AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 1814 2 AMENDMENT NO. . Amend Senate Bill 1814 on page 1, 3 immediately below line 3, by inserting the following: 4 "Section 3. The Local Government Disaster Service 5 Volunteer Act is amended by changing Section 15 as follows: 6 (50 ILCS 122/15) 7 Sec. 15. Local government disaster service volunteer 8 leave. An employee of a local agency who is a certified 9 disaster service volunteer of the American Red Cross or 10 assigned to the Illinois Emergency Management Agency in 11 accordance with the Illinois Emergency Management Act, the 12 Emergency Management Assistance Compact Act, or other 13 applicable administrative rules may be granted leave from his 14 or her work with pay for not more than 20 working days in any 15 12-month period to participate in specialized disaster relief 16 services for the American Red Cross or for the Illinois 17 Emergency Management Agency, as the case may be, upon the 18 request of the American Red Cross or the Illinois Emergency 19 Management Agency for the services of that employee and upon 20 the approval of that employee's agency, without loss of 21 seniority, pay, vacation time, compensatory time, personal 22 days, sick time, or earned overtime accumulation. The agency -2- LRB9212182BDdvam01 1 must compensate an employee granted leave under this Section 2 at his or her regular rate of pay for those regular work 3 hours during which the employee is absent from work. Leave 4 under this Act shall not be unreasonably denied for services 5 related to a disaster within the United States or its 6 territoriesmay be granted only for services related to a7disaster occurring within the State of Illinois. 8 (Source: P.A. 92-95, eff. 7-18-01.) 9 (50 ILCS 122/5 rep.) 10 Section 4.
