92_SJ0006 LRB9200677KBkb 1 SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, On December 7, 1941, the Imperial Japanese Navy 3 and Air Force attacked units of armed forces of the United 4 States stationed at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii; and 5 WHEREAS, More than 2,400 citizens of the United States 6 were killed and more than 1,100 citizens of the United States 7 were wounded in the attack on Pearl Harbor; and 8 WHEREAS, The attack on Pearl Harbor marked the entry of 9 the United States into World War II; and 10 WHEREAS, The veterans of World War II and all Americans 11 commemorate December 7 in remembrance of the attack on Pearl 12 Harbor; and 13 WHEREAS, Commemoration of the attack on Pearl Harbor will 14 instill in all people of the United States a greater 15 understanding and appreciation of the selfless sacrifice of 16 the individuals who served in the armed forces of the United 17 States during World War II; therefore, be it 18 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SECOND GENERAL 19 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, THE HOUSE OF 20 REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING HEREIN, that all State agencies, 21 school districts, and interested organizations, groups, and 22 individuals are urged to fly the flag of the United States at 23 half-staff each December 7 in honor of the men and women who 24 died as a result of the attack on Pearl Harbor; and be it 25 further 26 RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be 27 presented to the Governor and the Superintendent of the State 28 Board of Education.
