92_SR0017 LRB9203850RHrh 1 SENATE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to 3 express their sincere condolences to the family and friends 4 of Norman Faber, who passed away on January 9, 2001; and 5 WHEREAS, Norman Faber was born on July 21, 1934 in 6 LaMoille Township, Bureau County, to Henry and Rosalia Faber; 7 and 8 WHEREAS, Norman Faber began his career as a farmer on the 9 family farm in LaMoille; in the early 1960's, he went to work 10 as the office manager at Paul Monroe Chevrolet on Main 11 Street in Princeton, Illinois; in 1968, he and Pete Zurliene 12 purchased the dealership and renamed it Faber Zurliene; in 13 1983, Mr. Zurliene retired and the dealership was renamed 14 Faber Motors; Mr. Faber was associated with General Motors 15 through the dealership for 32 years; and 16 WHEREAS, Norman Faber was a lifelong resident of Bureau 17 County; he had been active in the Barbershoppers for more 18 than 14 years; he received the Princeton Chamber of Commerce 19 Outstanding Citizen of the Year Award and the 2000 Robert 20 Sorenson Summit Award; he served in various volunteer 21 capacities in the Red Cross, Boy Scouts, American Cancer 22 Society, Gateway Services and the Heart Fund; and 23 WHEREAS, Norman Faber held memberships at the First 24 Baptist Church in Princeton, where he served in various 25 capacities, the Princeton Rotary Club, where he was a Paul 26 Harris Fellow and 2000 Princeton "Rotarian of the Year," 27 Princeton Elks Lodge, Princeton Moose Lodge, Bureau Valley 28 Country Club, Illinois Auto Dealers Association, Bureau 29 County United Way Board, National Auto Dealers Association 30 and Princeton Chamber of Commerce; he was also a member of 31 the Perry Memorial Hospital Board for nine years, serving as 32 chairman for one year, and the Bureau County Tuberculosis -2- LRB9203850RHrh 1 Board for 20 years; and 2 WHEREAS, The passing of Norman Faber will be deeply felt 3 by all who knew and loved him, especially his wife, Margaret; 4 his children, David N. (wife, Debra) Faber, Richard A. (wife, 5 Tammy) Faber, Debora Lilley, Colleen Frashefski, Cheryl 6 Moseley, Barbara (husband, Nils) Larson, and Susan Patricia 7 (husband, Douglas) White; his mother, Rosalia Mitchell; his 8 brothers, Ralph E. (wife, Ruth) Faber and Jerry (wife, 9 Glenda) Faber; his sister, Shirley (husband, Donald) Rod; his 10 13 grandchildren; and his 6 great-grandchildren; therefore, 11 be it 12 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SECOND GENERAL 13 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with 14 all who knew him, the death of Norman Faber of Princeton, 15 Illinois; and be it further 16 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 17 presented to the family of Norman Faber.
