92_SR0047 LRB9208122KBkb 1 SENATE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened 3 to learn of the death of Edward W. Palmer, President of the 4 Village of University Park; and 5 WHEREAS, Edward Palmer was President of the Village of 6 University Park for four years; he served as a village 7 trustee for eleven years; Mr. Palmer brought new commercial 8 development to the village, including a grocery store, a 9 bank, and a new municipal complex; and 10 WHEREAS, Mr. Palmer was a member of the South Suburban 11 Mayors and Managers Association; he was a principal 12 consultant with the Illinois State Board of Education's 13 Truant Alternative and Optional Education Program; he 14 actively supported the third airport alliance, hoping to 15 change the name from Peotone Airport to University Park 16 Airport; and 17 WHEREAS, Edward Palmer was the recipient of a grant from 18 the Wal-Mart Foundation for outstanding Leadership in 19 America's smaller communities; he was inducted as a member of 20 the International Who's Who of Professionals in 1999; Mr. 21 Palmer held a Master's degree in business administration and 22 was working on a doctorate in educational administration; and 23 WHEREAS, Mr. Palmer served on the Will County Private 24 Industry Council Board; he was an active member of the Men's 25 Group at Pilgrimage Protestant Congregation; he was a member 26 of the Concerned Citizens Committee; and he led the formation 27 of the 100 Men Association; and 28 WHEREAS, Edward W. Palmer will be remembered by all those 29 who knew and loved him, especially his daughter, Janese; and 30 his sons, Kentrell, Edward, Jr., and Brauc; therefore, be it 31 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SECOND GENERAL -2- LRB9208122KBkb 1 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with 2 his family and friends, the death of Edward W. Palmer of 3 University Park; and be it further 4 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 5 presented to the family of Edward W. Palmer.
