92_SR0099 LRB9208583KBkb 1 SENATE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to 3 express their sincere condolences to the family and friends 4 of Walter C. Jahnke of North Chicago, Illinois, who passed 5 away on March 18, 2001; and 6 WHEREAS, Walter Jahnke was born on the family farm in St. 7 Olaf, Iowa, on December 30, 1924; his parents were Walter and 8 Iva Jahnke; he farmed with his father in Lake County, 9 Illinois; and 10 WHEREAS, Mr. Jahnke was a 1942 graduate of Warren 11 Township High School and attended the University of Illinois 12 Extension and the College of Lake County; and 13 WHEREAS, Mr. Jahnke worked and retired from the North 14 Chicago Water Filtration Plant; he also retired from the 15 General Fire Extinguisher Corporation; Mr. Jahnke also worked 16 at the Northbrook Water Filtration Plant; and 17 WHEREAS, Mr. Jahnke was a Commissioner on the North 18 Chicago Housing Authority, a Democratic precinct 19 committeeman, a member of the Knights of Columbus #731 of 20 Waukegan, a life member of the B.P.O. Elks Lodge #702 of 21 Waukegan, a member of the Holy Name Society, the Holy Rosary 22 Parish, a Merit Badge Counselor with the Boy Scouts of 23 America Troop 36 of North Chicago, a member of A.A.R.P., a 24 member of the Lake County Farm Bureau, and a member of the 25 Greater North Chicago Senior Citizen Club (Foss Park 26 District); and 27 WHEREAS, Mr. Jahnke was an avid gardener and a man who 28 enjoyed fishing with his children; and 29 WHEREAS, Walter C. Jahnke is survived by his loving wife 30 of forty-eight years, Lorraine; his sons, Glenn Jahnke, Neal 31 (wife, Frannie) Jahnke, Mark Jahnke, and David (wife, Susan) -2- LRB9208583KBkb 1 Jahnke; his daughters, Lynn (husband, Bruce) Synder and Susan 2 Jahnke; his mother-in-law, Helen Zdanowicz; his 3 grandchildren, Sara, Eric, Erin, Paul, Alex, Greg, Maureen, 4 Austin, Crystal, Bobby, Keri, Claire, Kaitlin, and Jasmin; 5 and many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it 6 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SECOND GENERAL 7 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with 8 his family and many friends, the death of Walter C. Jahnke of 9 North Chicago, Illinois; and be it further 10 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 11 presented to the family of Walter C. Jahnke.
