92_SR0111 LRB9208699RHrh 1 SENATE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to 3 express their sincere condolences to the family and friends 4 of Merl E. Bottrell, who passed away on April 4, 2001; and 5 WHEREAS, Mr. Bottrell was born on December 13, 1931 in 6 Decatur, Illinois to George and Esther Bottrell; and 7 WHEREAS, Mr. Bottrell was a member of Berea Christian 8 Church, where he served as a superintendent, Sunday school 9 teacher, and deacon for many years; he farmed in the Mount 10 Auburn area his entire life; and 11 WHEREAS, Mr. Bottrell was a member of the Kedron Masonic 12 Lodge 340 AF & AM, where he served as master and was 13 treasurer for many years; he was also awarded honorary 14 memberships in the Masonic Lodges in Harristown, 15 Morrisonville, and Edinburg, and was a certified lodge 16 instructor since 1990; and 17 WHEREAS, Mr. Bottrell was also a member of the 18 Springfield Consistory, ATA 331 of Mount Auburn, a trustee of 19 Mosquito Township Cemetery for 16 years, a member of 20 Christian County Farm Bureau, a member of the 21 Niantic-Harristown School Board, and the Central Christian 22 Church; Mr. Bottrell also proudly served in the United States 23 Army during the Korean War; and 24 WHEREAS, The passing of Merl E. Bottrell will be deeply 25 felt by all who knew and loved him, especially his wife, 26 Kathryn; his son, George (wife, Jackie) Bottrell; his 27 daughter, Arlene Doyle; his grandson, Casey Doyle; his 28 brother, George Dean (wife, Ruth) Bottrell; his niece; his 29 nephew; and his many cousins; therefore, be it 30 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SECOND GENERAL 31 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with -2- LRB9208699RHrh 1 all who knew him, the death of Merl E. Bottrell of Blue 2 Mound, Illinois; and be it further 3 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 4 presented to the family of Merl E. Bottrell with our sincere 5 condolences.
