92_SR0113 LRB9208707RHrh 1 SENATE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to 3 express their sincere condolences to the family and friends 4 of Richard A. "Dick" Haussmann, who passed away on March 26, 5 2001; and 6 WHEREAS, Richard A. Haussmann was born on March 22, 1930, 7 in Aurora, Illinois, to George and Hazel Haussmann; he was a 8 graduate of East Aurora High School; and 9 WHEREAS, Mr. Haussmann served in the United States Air 10 Force from 1950 to 1954; and 11 WHEREAS, On March 1, 1957, Mr. Haussmann joined the staff 12 at the Old Second National Bank, where he worked for 18 years 13 as a teller and in the marketing, advertising, and public 14 relations departments; for 20 years he wrote and produced the 15 bank's radio commercials, and served as the voice of the Old 16 Second National Bank on those commercials; in 1975 he was 17 appointed as the Advertising and Marketing officer where he 18 produced a series of ads where he portrayed characters such 19 as Santa Claus, a pirate, and an astronaut; he became the 20 vault manager in 1982, a position he held until his 21 retirement in 1995; and 22 WHEREAS, Richard Haussman will also be remembered for his 23 service as the narrator for the American Legion Band since 24 1969 and as host of Music Under the Stars, the Aurora Summer 25 Band Series sponsored by the Fox Valley Park District since 26 1975; he made appearances in many shows with groups such as 27 the Aurora Drama Guild, the Boulder Hill Playhouse, the Stage 28 Company, Ltd., the Albright Theatre in Batavia, and the 29 Pheasant Run Playhouse in St. Charles; recently, Mr. 30 Haussmann and his partner Ed Young performed Readers Theatre 31 productions for senior citizen groups throughout Northern 32 Illinois and Indiana; and -2- LRB9208707RHrh 1 WHEREAS, Richard Haussmann was a member of several 2 organizations which includes his service as Chaplain for 3 General H. Sheridan, Camp #2, Son of Union Veterans of the 4 Civil War, and also the Aurora Post 20, Grand Army of the 5 Republic Memorial Association; additionally he served as 6 Chaplain for the Department of Illinois S.U.V.C.W. and the 7 Chicago Light Artillery "Battery A"; and 8 WHEREAS, Mr. Haussman was an active member of the Aurora 9 Historical Society, where he helped plan fundraisers for the 10 Civil War Era Ball; the Aurora Historical Society honored Mr. 11 Haussmann on March 24, 2001, at their annual banquet where 12 they presented him with the first ever Lifetime Achievement 13 Award; Mayor David Stover also proclaimed March 24, 2001 as 14 "Richard S. Haussmann Day"; and 15 WHEREAS, Richard Haussmann was a member at New England 16 Congregational Church in Aurora, where he was a mentor and 17 participated in various holiday celebrations; and 18 WHEREAS, The passing of Richard A. Haussmann will be 19 deeply felt by all who knew and loved him, especially his 20 brother, George F. (wife, Ruth) Haussmann; his nephews, C. 21 David (wife, Jan) Guenther, Lawrence (wife, Paula) Haussmann, 22 and Stephen Haussmann; and 23 WHEREAS, In addition to his family, Richard Haussman will 24 also be by his many friends whom he liked to refer to as his 25 "unfamily", they include Rick (wife, Cindy) Pierce, Richard 26 (wife, Pat) Cederoth, Ed (wife, June) Young, Don (wife, Pat) 27 Hoffman, Venice Hurd, Ed (wife, Betty) Reuland, Tim (wife, 28 Beth) Corrigan, and Barbara Corrigan Fearibach; therefore, be 29 it 30 RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SECOND GENERAL 31 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with 32 all who knew him, the death of Richard A. Haussmann of -3- LRB9208707RHrh 1 Montgomery, Illinois; and be it further 2 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 3 presented to the family of Richard A. Haussmann with our 4 sincere condolences.
