 1                          SENATE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS, The members  of  the  Illinois  Senate  wish  to
 3    express  their  sincere condolences to the family and friends
 4    of Rosie Lee Jackson-Lattin, who passed away on July 4, 2001;
 5    and

 6        WHEREAS, Mrs. Jackson-Lattin was born on January 26, 1915
 7    in Augusta, Arkansas to Marion and Josephine Barnes; and

 8        WHEREAS, During the 1920s, Mrs. Jackson-Lattin  moved  to
 9    Bell  City,  Missouri,  with  her  father;  her childhood and
10    school years were spent in this community; and

11        WHEREAS, Mrs.  Jackson-Lattin  married  the  late  Willie
12    "W.J." Jackson and together they raised their 10 children and
13    grandchildren  and  farmed  the land in Bell City for over 30
14    years; and

15        WHEREAS, Mrs. Jackson-Lattin was a faithful member of the
16    Pilgrim Baptist Church in Bell City and later became a member
17    of the Cornerstone Baptist Church in Sikeston, Missouri; and

18        WHEREAS, In 1967  Mrs.  Jackson-Lattin  and  her  husband
19    retired   from  farming  and  relocated  to  Cape  Girardeau,
20    Missouri where she was employed with Southeast Missouri State
21    University; and

22        WHEREAS, Several years after the death  of  her  husband,
23    Mrs. Jackson-Lattin married the late C.Q. Lattin and became a
24    member  of  the St. Matthews Baptist Church, where she served
25    on the Mothers Board; and

26        WHEREAS,  Mrs.  Jackson-Lattin  relocated  to   Bellwood,
27    Illinois  to  live with her children, Shirley Higgins and Dr.
28    Earnestine J. Pullen;  she  became  a  member  of  the  First
29    Baptist  Church  of  Melrose  Park  and  also  maintained her
30    membership with Cornerstone Baptist Church in Sikeston; and

 1        WHEREAS,  Mrs.  Jackson-Lattin  served  as  a  pillar  of
 2    strength and wisdom in the community; she will be  remembered
 3    for  her  bright vibrant smile, warm personality and generous
 4    spirit; therefore, be it

 5        RESOLVED, BY THE  SENATE  OF  THE  NINETY-SECOND  GENERAL
 6    ASSEMBLY  OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
 7    all who knew her, the death of Rosie  Lee  Jackson-Lattin  of
 8    Bellwood, Illinois; and be it further

 9        RESOLVED,  That  a  suitable  copy  of this resolution be
10    presented to the family of Rosie Lee Jackson-Lattin with  our
11    sincere condolences.
