92_SR0198 LRB9209932RHrh 1 SENATE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to 3 express their sincere condolences to the family and friends 4 of Lawrence R. Temple, who passed away on August 12, 2000; 5 and 6 WHEREAS, Lawrence R. Temple was a highly valued and 7 respected resident of Lake Forest, Illinois who unselfishly 8 gave his time and talents for the enrichment of his 9 community; and 10 WHEREAS, Mr. Temple lived in Lake Forest for 24 years; he 11 was a 1963 graduate of the University of Notre Dame and he 12 served in the United States Navy; from 1965 to 1987, he owned 13 Scholastic Transit, which provided school buses to districts 14 throughout the North Shore; and worked as a commodities 15 broker with a seat on the Chicago Merchantile Exchange; and 16 WHEREAS, Mr. Temple served the City of Lake Forest as a 17 member of the Plan Commission from May of 1991 to May of 1998 18 and as a member of the Building Review Board from June of 19 1992 to May of 1998, where he served as Chairman from June of 20 1993 to May of 1998; and 21 WHEREAS, As Chairman of the Building Review Board, Mr. 22 Temple served during a period of unprecendented building 23 activity and demonstrated unique sensitivity and ability to 24 balance the character and traditions of the City of Lake 25 Forest with the rights of property owners; and 26 WHEREAS, Mr. Temple served on the Lake Forest City 27 Council as Third Ward Alderman with distinction and integrity 28 from May 3, 1999 until August 12, 2000, serving as Chairman 29 of the Municipal Services Committee and as a member of the 30 Transportation Committee, CPA Committee and as the City 31 Council liaison to the City Administration; and -2- LRB9209932RHrh 1 WHEREAS, The passing of Lawrence Temple will be deeply 2 felt by all who knew and loved him, especially his wife, 3 Marsha; his children, Robert, Andrew, April and Larry Jr.; 4 his daughter-in-law, Kathleen; and his grandchildren, Robert 5 and Kathleen; and 6 WHEREAS, A man of many talents and interests, Lawrence 7 Temple will be remembered as a true gentleman who brought a 8 businessman's thought process to the City Council; therefore, 9 be it 10 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SECOND GENERAL 11 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with 12 all who knew him, the death of Lawrence R. Temple of Lake 13 Forest, Illinois; and be it further 14 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 15 presented to the family of Lawrence R. Temple with our 16 sincere condolences.
