 1                          SENATE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS, The members  of  the  Illinois  Senate  wish  to
 3    express  their  sincere condolences to the family and friends
 4    of Kenneth J. Fredricks, who passed  away  on  September  26,
 5    2001; and

 6        WHEREAS, Kenneth J. Fredricks was born on August 26, 1923
 7    in Chicago, Illinois; and

 8        WHEREAS,  Mr.  Fredricks  served as city treasurer of Des
 9    Plaines, Illinois for 12 years, retiring in 1995;  he  served
10    the  Des  Plaines Police Department since 1953, retiring with
11    the rank of Sergeant; he founded the Des Plaines Police  Boys
12    Club in the mid-1950s and for many years was the Department's
13    juvenile officer, serving as a mentor to local youth; and

14        WHEREAS, After his retirement from the Des Plaines Police
15    Department,  Mr.  Fredricks  worked  as  head  of security at
16    Oakton Community College in Des Plaines; and

17        WHEREAS, It was Mr. Fredricks' role as the  official  Des
18    Plaines  Santa Claus for the better part of four decades that
19    endeared him to the community; and

20        WHEREAS, The passing of  Kenneth  J.  Fredricks  will  be
21    deeply  felt  by  all  who knew and loved him, especially his
22    wife of 54 years, LaVerne; his son,  Kenneth  (wife,  Gayle);
23    his   daughters,  Sharon  (husband,  Richard)  Holthouse  and
24    Christine  Bierute;  his  five  grandchildren,  and  his  one
25    great-grandchild; therefore, be it

26        RESOLVED, BY THE  SENATE  OF  THE  NINETY-SECOND  GENERAL
27    ASSEMBLY  OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
28    all who knew him, the death of Kenneth J.  Fredricks  of  Des
29    Plaines, Illinois; and be it further

30        RESOLVED,  That  a  suitable  copy  of this resolution be

 2    sincere condolences.
