92_SR0232 LRB9210744RHrh 1 SENATE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to 3 express their sincere condolences to the family and friends 4 of Paul G. "Pete" Dixon, Jr., who passed away on October 18, 5 2001; and 6 WHEREAS, Paul G. Dixon, Jr. was born on July 8, 1929 in 7 Springfield, Illinois to Paul G. and Agnes Keely Dixon; he 8 married Sallie Conway in 1993; and 9 WHEREAS, Mr. Dixon was an active member at St. Agnes 10 Catholic Church, where he was a head usher; in addition, he 11 was an active member of Christ the King Parish; and 12 WHEREAS, Mr. Dixon served as a Corporal in the United 13 States Army during the Korean Conflict; he served as a member 14 of the Knights of Columbus Council 364, the Disabled American 15 Veterans, the Veterans of Foreign War, the Order of the 16 Eagles, Holy Name Society, and the Sons and Daughters of 17 Erin; and 18 WHEREAS, Mr. Dixon was a former president of the 19 Southwest Democratic Central Committee and a Democratic 20 County Chairman; in addition, he served his constituents well 21 as a Democratic Precinct Committeeman for several years; and 22 WHEREAS, Mr. Dixon was an avid sports fan, with a 23 particular passion for the Chicago Cubs and the Fighting 24 Irish of Notre Dame; he was a past officer and coach for 25 various sports leagues in Springfield; in addition, he 26 volunteered for several schools, including St. Agnes and 27 Sacred Heart Griffin; and 28 WHEREAS, The passing of Paul G. Dixon will be deeply felt 29 by all who knew and loved him, especially his wife, Sallie 30 Dixon; his sons, Paul (wife, Delia) Dixon, Philip (wife, 31 Rena) Dixon, and Preston "Lou" (wife, Haruna) Dixon; his -2- LRB9210744RHrh 1 daughters, Pamela Ryan, Patricia "Trixie" (husband, Mark) 2 Kirincich, and Polly (husband, Dr. Tim) Harvey; his 3 stepchildren, Mary Pat (husband, Noel) Dalbey, Frank (wife, 4 Sharon) Conway, Nancy Davlin, Sr. Peggy Conway, O.P., and 5 Kevin Conway; his 18 grandchildren; and his 3 6 great-grandchildren; therefore, be it 7 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SECOND GENERAL 8 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with 9 all who knew him, the death of Paul G. Dixon, Jr. of 10 Springfield, Illinois; and be it further 11 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 12 presented to the family of Paul G. Dixon, Jr. with our 13 sincere condolences.
