92_SR0345 LRB9216242RHrh 1 SENATE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to 3 express their sincere condolences to the family and friends 4 of Lawrence Marion McDonald, who passed away on July 28, 5 2001; and 6 WHEREAS, Lawrence Marion McDonald was born on November 4, 7 1944 to Lawrence D. MacDonald and Mary Frances Curry McDonald 8 of East St. Louis; he attended Franklin Elementary School, 9 Hughes-Quinn Junior High School, and graduated in the early 10 1960s from Lincoln Senior High School, where he participated 11 in the Glee Club; and 12 WHEREAS, After high school, Lawrence, or "Red", as his 13 family nicknamed him, joined the United States Navy, where he 14 became a hospital corpsman and later a pharmacy technician 15 and served as the pharmacist of the U.S.S. Randolph, a Navy 16 Aircraft Carrier; while stationed at Pensacola, Florida, he 17 met and married the former Beverly J. McCorvey on December 18 19, 1964; and 19 WHEREAS, Honorably discharged from the Navy, Mr. McDonald 20 enrolled at the St. Louis College of Pharmacy and later 21 Belleville Area College; he worked as a technical service 22 engineer and a maintenance audit project manager for 27 years 23 at the Carboline Company, where he represented the company 24 throughout the United States and other lands such as New 25 Zealand, South America, St. Croix, St. Thomas, and Puerto 26 Rico; downsized by the Carboline Company in 1999, he took an 27 inspector position with the Terminix Company; and 28 WHEREAS, Mr. McDonald, who was known for his angelic 29 voice, gourmet cooking style, and exciting personality, was a 30 faithful member of St. Paul Baptist Church, where he 31 delivered "The Ways of the World" before the congregation in 32 April of 2001; he was also a member of the Men's Chorus, the -2- LRB9216242RHrh 1 Men's Fellowship, and the Trustee Board; and 2 WHEREAS, The memory of Lawrence Marion McDonald will be 3 cherished by all who knew him, especially his wife, Beverly 4 J. McDonald; his sons, Ryan D.(Mary) McDonald and Keleey M. 5 (Lucinda) McDonald; his daughters, Lauren F. Alexander and 6 Ivy K. (Phillip) Leatherman; his grandsons, Waymon, Laurence, 7 Montrell, Ryan, and Kaleb; his grandmother, Ethel Curry; his 8 aunts, Geneva (Wesley) Momon, Leanna (Jonnie) German, Shirley 9 (Herschel) Garrett, and Dorothy Brooks; his sister-in-law, 10 Thomasene McCorvey; his brother-in-law. Uralee McCorvey, Jr.; 11 and his nieces and nephews, cousins, and many friends; 12 therefore, be it 13 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SECOND GENERAL 14 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with 15 all who knew him, the death of Lawrence Marion McDonald of 16 East St. Louis, Illinois; and be it further 17 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 18 presented to the family of Lawrence Marion McDonald with our 19 sincere condolences.
