92_SR0347 LRB9216388BHbh 1 SENATE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened 3 to learn of the death of William L. Cumby of Springfield, who 4 passed away March 1, 2002; and 5 WHEREAS, Mr. Cumby was born July 20, 1935, in Pleasant 6 Plains, the son of William J. and Mae Lewis Cumby; and 7 WHEREAS, Mr. Cumby married Judy Portlock in 1990 in 8 Eureka Springs, Arkansas; and 9 WHEREAS, Mr. Cumby, after serving in the United States 10 Army, worked for General Motors in St. Louis; he was 11 associated with Hermes Chevrolet in New Berlin for many 12 years; Mr. Cumby then became an insurance agent for Country 13 Companies, and owned the Insurance Center in Springfield and 14 recently retired from Forsyth Insurance Group; and 15 WHEREAS, Mr. Cumby was a member of the Independent 16 Insurance Agents, a past president of the New Berlin Jaycees, 17 and a board member of the SARA Center; he attended Washington 18 University; and 19 WHEREAS, William Cumby will be deeply missed by all those 20 who knew him and loved him, especially his wife, Judy; his 21 two sons, Timothy and Matt (Angela); his two stepdaughters, 22 Sherry (Roger) Cookson and Laura (Henry) McAden; his six 23 grandchildren; his sister, Anna "Sis" (William) Poole; and 24 his several nieces and nephews; therefore, be it 25 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SECOND GENERAL 26 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with 27 his family and friends, the death of William L. Cumby; and be 28 it further 29 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 30 presented to the family of William L. Cumby with our sincere -2- LRB9216388BHbh 1 condolences.
