92_SR0411 LRB9216756BHbh 1 SENATE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened 3 to learn of the death of Ardsley Pihl "Ardy" Congdon of 4 Winthrop Harbor, who passed away April 25, 2002; and 5 WHEREAS, Mr. Congdon was born March 19, 1941, in Zion; he 6 married his wife, Pamela, on September 13, 1964, in Zion; and 7 WHEREAS, Upon the death of his father Everett, in 1959, 8 Mr. Congdon began operating the Congdon Funeral Home in Zion 9 and became President of Congdon & Company Funeral Directors, 10 Ltd., a position he held until his death; and 11 WHEREAS, Mr. Congdon was a member of Christ Community 12 Church of Zion where he served in many capacities including 13 Usher and serving on the cast of the Zion Passion Play for 14 over 55 years, playing various parts including that of 15 Pontius Pilate for the last 35 years; and 16 WHEREAS, Mr. Congdon was Past President of the Zion 17 Chamber of Commerce, Past President of the Zion Exchange 18 Club, and was currently serving as a Trustee and former 19 chairman of the Lake County Public Water District; Mr. 20 Congdon was a lifetime member of the Zion Historical Society 21 and was a member of the Coalition for Healthy Communities 22 through Zion-Benton Township High School; and 23 WHEREAS, In the 1970s, Mr. Congdon served on Zion's 24 Bicentennial Commission and was instrumental in the 25 construction and production of the "Round House" in Shiloh 26 Park; Mr. Congdon was a very active supporter of Zion's 27 Jubilee Day's Celebration; and 28 WHEREAS, Mr. Congdon was active in the Zion Volunteer 29 Fire Department early in his career and served as an 30 engineer; he was a former member of the Zion Sportsman's 31 Club; and -2- LRB9216756BHbh 1 WHEREAS, In 1977, Mr. Congdon was awarded the Zion 2 Exchange Club's "Golden Deeds Award" for service to his 3 community; and 4 WHEREAS, Professionally, Mr. Congdon was an active member 5 and former State Chairman of the Order of the Golden Rule, a 6 funeral service organization, and he was also a member of the 7 Northeastern Illinois Funeral Directors Association, the 8 Illinois Funeral Directors Association, the National Funeral 9 Directors Association, and the Wisconsin Funeral Directors 10 Association; and 11 WHEREAS, Mr. Congdon will be deeply missed by all those 12 who knew him and loved him, especially his wife, Pamela; his 13 son, Ardsley Pihl "Ardy" (Beverly) Congdon, Jr.; his daughter 14 Anjanette (Eric) Taylor; his three grandchildren, Stephanie, 15 Casey, and Ardsley Pihl "Lee" III; his two brothers, Loren 16 (Margaret) Congdon and Gary; his sister, LeAnna (Lee) Fisher; 17 his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Vernon and Carol Krapf; 18 his sisters-in-law, Mary Lou Congdon, Lana (Will) Young, and 19 Sue (Don) Jensen; his uncles and aunts, Wiladene (the late 20 Lester) Koetz, Don Congdon, and Bert (Marie) Congdon; his 21 many nieces, nephews, and cousins; and his many dear friends; 22 therefore, be it 23 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SECOND GENERAL 24 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with 25 his family and friends, the passing of Ardsley Pihl "Ardy" 26 Congdon of Winthrop Harbor; and be it further 27 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 28 presented to the family of Ardsley Pihl "Ardy" Congdon with 29 our sincere condolences.
