92_SR0444 LRB9216793RHrh 1 SENATE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to 3 express our sincere condolences to the family and friends of 4 Matthew Ives, who passed away on April 8, 2002; and 5 WHEREAS, The oldest of four children to David and Jeanne 6 Ives, Matthew was a responsible and fun-loving older brother, 7 who loved and often watched his younger brothers, Billy and 8 Jeremy, and his sister, Madeleine; and 9 WHEREAS, Matthew enjoyed spending time with his family, 10 whether biking or traveling or just playing basketball in the 11 driveway; and 12 WHEREAS, Matthew was an outgoing and loyal friend to 13 many; he had been friends with many of his buddies since 14 kindergarten, and yet he always enjoyed making new friends; 15 he was blessed with a sincere heart and treated everyone with 16 kindness, respect, and love; and 17 WHEREAS, Matthew was an excellent student who 18 consistently made the honor roll at South Middle School; he 19 was an eighth-grade student there and was looking forward to 20 attending Prospect High School in the fall of 2002; he 21 excelled in many activities; while a student at Dryden 22 Elementary School, he was an exemplary member of Den 2 in Cub 23 Scout Pack 129, earning the Arrow of Light Award; and 24 WHEREAS, Matthew particularly loved athletics and always 25 demonstrated good sportsmanship; most recently, he was 26 goalkeeper for the division-winning Real F.C. Fire Soccer 27 Club; in addition, he served as a key player on his church's 28 fifth/sixth grade championship team and more recently on his 29 eighth-grade championship basketball team; he also loved 30 skiing, tennis, golf, and playing football with his friends; 31 and -2- LRB9216793RHrh 1 WHEREAS, Matthew was a valued member of his 2002 2 confirmation class and Real People Youth Group at First 3 Presbyterian Church; his enthusiastic participation in weekly 4 meeting, retreats, and service projects made him a leader and 5 friend to many; his sincerity, kindness, and willingness to 6 put others before him were evident to everyone; he had a 7 special ability to cheer others up and brighten the world 8 with laughter; and 9 WHEREAS, The passing of Matthew Ives will be deeply felt 10 by all who knew and loved him, especially his parents, David 11 and Jeanne; his siblings, Billy, Jeremy, and Madeleine; his 12 grandparents, William Ives, Jane Schroeder, and Mary Ann 13 Weisenberger; his aunts; his uncles; his cousins; and his 14 many friends; therefore, be it 15 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SECOND GENERAL 16 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with 17 all who knew him, the death of Matthew Ives of Arlington 18 Heights; and be it further 19 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 20 presented to the family of Matthew Ives with our deepest 21 sympathy and condolences.
