1 SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to
3 express our sincere condolences to the family and friends of
4 Dan Prowse, who recently passed away; and
5 WHEREAS, Dan Prowse, originally from Three Oaks,
6 Michigan, came to Lincolnshire in 1956 to pursue a career as
7 a salesman of electric industrial motors, and he soon began a
8 political career that would last until his death; and
9 WHEREAS, Mr. Prowse served on the Lincolnshire village
10 board from 1958 to 1965, became the first president of the
11 Vernon Township Republican Club during the 1960s, and served
12 for 38 years as a Republican precinct committeeman; and
13 WHEREAS, In 1964, Mr. Prowse was appointed to fill a
14 vacancy on the Vernon Township Board, and he was re-elected
15 as township trustee every election cycle since; the township
16 burgeoned from a population of a few thousand to more than
17 70,000 today; and
18 WHEREAS, Mr. Prowse, who became one of the area's longest
19 serving public servants, earning the nickname "Lincolnshire's
20 longest living resident"; and
21 WHEREAS, The passing of Dan Prowse will be deeply felt by
22 all who knew and loved him, especially his wife, Gwen; his
23 son, Dan Jr.; his daughter, Laura; and his many colleagues
24 and friends; therefore, be it
25 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SECOND GENERAL
26 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
27 all who knew him, the death of Dan Prowse of Lincolnshire,
28 Illinois; and be it further
29 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
30 presented to the family of Dan Prowse with our sincere
