92_SR0462 LRB9217154RHrh 1 SENATE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to 3 express their sincerest condolences to the family and friends 4 of Leroy Winstead, who passed away on June 8, 2002; and 5 WHEREAS, Leroy Winstead was born on September 7, 1928 in 6 Bellwood, Pennsylvania to the late Samuel and Ethel Winstead; 7 and 8 WHEREAS, During his tour of duty with the United States 9 Army, Mr. Winstead was stationed at Kitzingen, Germany, where 10 he met his beloved wife, Marianne, whom he married on October 11 17, 1953; in 1954 they moved and settled at Fort Dix, New 12 Jersey, continuing to travel to Europe many times with the 13 Army; he came to Zion, Illinois in 1969 after retiring at 14 Fort Sheridan following 20 years of service; and 15 WHEREAS, Mr. Winstead began working for the Lake County 16 Sheriff's Department in 1968 as a Correctional Officer; he 17 was promoted to the position of Warden of the Jail and 18 retired as a Lieutenant in 1991; and 19 WHEREAS, Mr. Winstead was Past Commander of American 20 Legion Post #281, Waukegan, where he also served as Chef-D 21 Gare of the Forty and Eight; he was also Past President of 22 the Kiwanis Club of Zion and was a member of the Fraternal 23 Order of Police Lodge #66; and 24 WHEREAS, The passing of Leroy Winstead will be deeply 25 felt by all who knew and loved him, especially his wife, 26 Marianne; his sister, Helen Flagg; his sisters-in-law, Dora 27 Rieder, Irmgard Trutlein, Egon Lang, and Margot (husband, 28 Jerry) Lee; his brother-in-law, Renate (wife, Leslie) Remay; 29 and his best friends, Frank Dunn and family and William 30 Patterson; therefore, be it 31 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SECOND GENERAL -2- LRB9217154RHrh 1 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with 2 all who knew him, the death of Leroy Winstead of Zion, 3 Illinois; and be it further 4 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 5 presented to the family of Leroy Winstead with our sincere 6 condolences.
