92_SR0493 LRB9217633RHrhA 1 SENATE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to 3 express their sincerest condolences to the family and friends 4 of Marlys Johnson, who passed away on August 10, 2002; and 5 WHEREAS, Mrs. Johnson was born on April 13, 1939 in 6 Ottawa, Illinois, to Sidney and Violet, nee Ryg, Nelson; she 7 married George Johnson on April 28, 1962; she was a resident 8 of Park Ridge for 35 years; and 9 WHEREAS, Mrs. Johnson earned a nursing degree from 10 Lutheran Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing in Chicago and 11 was the first class to graduate from Lutheran General School 12 of Nursing in 1961; she set up and supervised the first 13 recovery room at Lutheran Deaconess Hospital; and 14 WHEREAS, Mrs. Johnson was a member of South Park Church 15 in Park Ridge for 35 years, served several terms as President 16 of the Republican Women's Club of Park Ridge, and was a 17 member of the Maine Township Mental Health Center Board; she 18 also volunteered at the Loop Crisis Pregnancy Center for five 19 years; and 20 WHEREAS, Mrs. Johnson devoted much of her time, along 21 with her husband, George, in determined advocacy on behalf of 22 those most defenseless members of our society, the unborn; 23 and 24 WHEREAS, Mrs. Johnson is survived by her husband, George; 25 her mother, Violet Nelson; her sister, Beverly (husband, 26 B.J.) Clark; her children, Cary (husband, James) Broussard, 27 Mark (wife, Laura) Johnson, and Brian (wife, Nathalie) 28 Johnson; her four grandchildren, Kyle, Kelly, Kevin, and 29 Blake; her nephew, Brett (wife, Margaret) Clark; her niece, 30 Kristin (husband, Adam) Lance; her great-nephews, Brady and 31 Dagan; and her great-niece, Sydney; she was preceded in death -2- LRB9217633RHrhA 1 by her father, Sidney; therefore, be it 2 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SECOND GENERAL 3 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with 4 all who knew her, the death of Marlys Johnson of Park Ridge; 5 and be it further 6 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 7 presented to the family of Marlys Johnson with our sincere 8 condolences.
