92_SR0507 LRB9217828RHrh 1 SENATE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to 3 express their sincerest condolences to the family and friends 4 of Stephen W. LaBelle of Zion, who passed away on August 29, 5 2002; and 6 WHEREAS, Stephen LaBelle was born on November 26, 1916 in 7 Zion to his parents Jesse and Pauline LaBelle; and 8 WHEREAS, Mr. LaBelle lived in Zion all of his life and, 9 for the past 20 years, wintered in Clearwater, Florida; he 10 was a lifelong member of Christ Community Church (formerly 11 Christian Catholic Church) of Zion, where he worked with the 12 Sunday School and youth organizations of the Church for over 13 50 years; in addition, he served on the cast of the Zion 14 Passion Play and he was an associate member of St. Paul's 15 United Methodist Church in Largo, Florida; and 16 WHEREAS, Mr. LaBelle was instrumental in the founding of 17 Camp Zion in Ellison Bay, Wisconsin and remained active in 18 Camp programs for over 50 years; he worked for Swank 19 Construction for over 20 years, the Cake Box Bakery for two 20 years, and later worked for Midway Heating Supply in Zion for 21 16 years until retirement; he was also one of the original 22 founders of Zion Little League and coached for over 25 years; 23 he also served in the Army from 1941 to 1945 in the South 24 Pacific and in Japan; and 25 WHEREAS, The passing of Stephen W. LaBelle will be deeply 26 felt by all who knew and loved him, especially his wife of 59 27 years, Rachel LaBelle; his sons, Dick (wife, Fran) LaBelle, 28 Doug (wife, Deb) LaBelle, Lorry (wife, Pat) LaBelle, and Fire 29 Chief David (wife, Jill) LaBelle; his ten grandchildren, Mike 30 (wife, Cindy), Lynn, Jennifer, Jeff, Krista, Karin, and Mark 31 (wife, Evelyn) LaBelle, Kim (husband, Ben) Ackert and Amy and 32 Janine LaBelle; his four great-grandchildren, Ashley, -2- LRB9217828RHrh 1 Tristan, Miranda, and Cody LaBelle; his sister, Mildred 2 Huyck; and his many dear and close nieces and nephews; 3 therefore, be it 4 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SECOND GENERAL 5 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with 6 all who knew him, the death of Stephen W. LaBelle of Zion; 7 and be it further 8 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 9 presented to the family of Stephen W. LaBelle with our 10 sincere condolences.
